Donate a “Book” to the DEF Legacy Library
DeKalb Education Foundation (DEF) recently launched our Legacy Library Campaign, an exciting new program to help continue providing enrichment materials and experiences beyond the classroom curriculum in District #428.

Since 1987, DEF has funded over $500,000 in grants for over 4000 kids in all of our twelve district schools. DeKalb Education Foundation funds teacher grants, up to $30,000 per school year, through fundraisers and an endowment fund started at the inception of DEF. If you are a “townie,” you, your own kids or even grandkids, may have enjoyed these enrichment activities. District #428 teachers work hard to teach within their existing curriculum budget, but sometimes they need that extra piece for a lesson to become just a little bit more for their kids. DEF grants have accomplished that. Ukuleles make music more fun. A trip to the Holocaust museum explains so much more than the history book. Fitness equipment helps make our kids stronger. And, books always make the world a bigger place.
About the DEF Legacy Library
All books will be shelved on the retaining walls on each side of the DeKalb High School main entrance (see photos below).
Designing Your Legacy Library “Book”
Who would you like to acknowledge? Your book may honor your kids, a favorite teacher, generations of being a “townie” or a memorable experience while in D428.
Each 4”x 8,” 8”x 8” or 12”x 8” book will be brown with white lettering so that it aligns with the design of DHS. Vertical or horizontal text will be sized to fit the book’s dimensions (see samples below).

Donation Levels
4”x 8” Design – $125 per book
8”x 8” Design – $250 per book
12”x 8” Design – $500 per book
